Follow the recipient’s requirements
If an organisation requests a specific PDF/A profile, follow its instructions and use a converter with a validator suited to that profile. Keep the original document too.
What the current tools check
Validate PDF checks the file’s technical structure. This check does not validate PDF/A compliance, a legal retention period or an electronic signature.
Read metadata shows information declared in the document. A “PDF/A” entry in metadata is not enough to establish compliance.
